While most of the U.S. population thinks “Swedish,” and they imagine Muppets, meatballs, and Ikea, I hope they will now think “literature.” Because I’m thrilled that I had an essay translated into Swedish—my first translation!

I was approached by an editor who asked if he could translate “The Codeine of Jordan.” He wrote me that few Swedish authors write travel literature, so he wanted to compile an anthology. Sandnejilka Förlag AB published the book Gränslös, which he wrote, “means ‘without borders.’ The word can be used figuratively in expressions like ‘endless opportunities’ or, if about a person, someone who pushes the limits.”

So if you read Swedish, have at it!
